Hope Theatre Academy is a non-profit theatre program dedicated to supporting adolescents with special needs and those recovering from homelessness. Our program provides a safe and inclusive space for these individuals to express themselves, build confidence, and develop valuable life skills through the performing arts. Through our unique approach, we aim to create a supportive community where everyone can shine and thrive.

President & Executive Director

Dr. Donna Stevens Kehl, Ed.D.

Dr. Donna Stevens Kehl, Ed.D., is a writer, educator, and the founder of H.O.P.E Theatre Academy, Inc. An educator for 22 years, she currently teaches English classes for special needs students and is launching Drama classes through H.O.P.E. Theatre Academy.  Donna has directed numerous large-scale theatre productions for her students, such as Little Mermaid, Jr. and Alice in Wonderland. In 2021, she graduated from the University of La Verne’s Doctor of Organizational Leadership program. Donna’s published Doctoral Dissertation explores how involvement in theatre arts helps to improve social functioning skills in adolescents with autism spectrum disorder in middle school. Her research led to the founding of H.O.P.E. (Hands-On Performance Educational) Theatre Academy, which focuses on individuals with autism and other special needs and individuals recovering from homelessness, helping them become involved in theatre arts.

      Treasurer

      Frank Kehl, Jr.

      Frank is the owner of Vineyard View Drone Services, a drone photography and videography service provider in Paso Robles, California. He previously served as a navigator in the US Air Force and California Air National Guard, logging over 7,500 hours in B-52 and C-130 aircraft. He is a member of The State Bar of California (inactive), and has also worked as a writer, specializing in credit card processing and the payments industry. An accomplished mountaineer, he has summited numerous peaks around the world, including Mount Rainier, Pico de Orizaba, Kilimanjaro, and others.
